    Jenai Hooke will be tutoring natural dyeing of silk and wool. The fee includes your notebook, pencil and a sample pack of silk and wool which will give you a range of samples to take home and refer to. (The dye substances are provided) Please bring luggage labels (available at Officeworks) and some string to tag onto your samples, at least 40 small gold safety pins for tagging your work, sissors, wear clothing that you don't mind getting stains on, gloves to use (please bring sturdy not disposable gloves) a hand towel, and perhaps the dreaded plastic bag to take any wet work home in.     Explore Indigo and learn to manage your vats, over 3 days whilst producing shibori to dye on the workshop. This is a 3 day process, making a vat, and dyeing your shibori pieces during the workshop. 21st-23rd January 2019. Fee includes the following materials: one meter of cotton voile, one meter of organic cotton poplin, one linen scarf, a soft hemmed cotton tea towel, 50x70cm, and one silk scarf, 160x27cm. You need to bring needle and thread, some good sturdy string that does not break under pressure for tying work, sissors, notebook, camera, something to carry work home in (the dreaded plastic bag in the case of wet or damp work).     This workshop will be limited to 8 travel companions - Hannah French, filmaker,. artist, traveler and organiser of festivals, will be there to assist you, . The workshop consists of 3 days dyeing and 1 day of walking in the local forests, observing local trees and collection of dyestuff. You will make your own travel arrangements to Bengaluru in India and meet us at a hotel near the airport. The workshops are near that location and you will be staying in that hotel for the duration of the workshop. This is a workshop hosted by the dyer's family. To make an expression of interest, email us to apply. The first day you will enjoy looking at the plants the dyers will be using, and a visit to the government silk facility in the area. The actual dye days will be the 28-30th.
